Tax Free Weekend

August 8 – 10, 2014

Each year, the state of Texas has a sales-tax free weekend, with the intended purpose of allowing parents to buy clothes and school supplies in preparation for the upcoming school year. But it’s really bigger than that now.

The law exempts most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks priced under $100. Stores all over the state will have sales going on during the three days as well, meaning that you can find some good deals if you are looking. Keep in mind, for every $100 you spend, you will save on average $8 (depending on the amount of local taxes in your area). But add not paying any sales tax along with some pretty good sales, and you can save some significant money.

So if crazy parking, heavy traffic, and big crowds don’t bother you too much, head out to your favorite stores this weekend, and pick up those school clothes, fall clothes, shoes, and school supplies.

If you want to see exactly what is covered, here is the link to the state website.

Happy Shopping!
