What classifies someone as a missing person? Recently, I wrote about skip tracing, and how we at Owens Investigations classify “skips.” Even though many groups include any missing person in the skip category, for us a missing person is a different category worthy of it’s own classification and distinct approach in our investigative plan. What is Skip Tracing?

Skip Tracing. Have you ever heard someone use this term, but you weren’t really sure what it meant? Today the term is used fairly broadly, so let’s see if I can help clarify it for you. Skip tracing refers to the act of finding a missing person. Initially, the term was used to refer to a person who was out of jail on bail or bond and then “skipped” town.
